江苏刺绣历史悠久，在宋代已初具规模，至明清时代达到鼎盛期，当时的宫庭绣品多出自江苏刺绣艺人之手。在长期的历史发展过程中，江苏刺绣在艺术上形成了图案秀丽、色彩和谐、线条明快、针法活泼、绣工精细的地方风格，誉满天下。
江苏刺绣的流派众多，风格各异，其中“平绣”细致入微、织毫毕现、色彩亮丽、富有质感；“乱针绣”线条流畅、针法活泼、层次丰富、表现力强；“双面绣”、“彩锦绣”、“发绣”、“绒绣”、“缂丝”等均工艺精湛，有极高的艺术观赏价值。
Su Embroidery is a general name for all kinds of embroideries in Jiangsu Province with long history.It ranks the first in the Four Famous Embroideries of China(The other three embroideries are Xiang Embroidery of Hunan Province,Shu Embroidery of Sichuan Province,and Yue Embroidery of Guangdong Province.)
Su Embroidery had a large scale in the Song Dynasty and came up to its great prosperity in the Ming &Qing Dynasties.The embroideries during that period were made by craftsmen in Jiangsu Province.Undergoing ages development,Su Embroidery forms the typical regional features such as beautiful patterns,harmonious color,lively lines,vivid stitch and elaborate techniques etc.,which has brought honors for it.There are numerous genres with various styles in the category of Su Embroidery.Among these genres,Plain Embroidery is fine embroidered,colorful and of sense of reality,Pandom-Stitch Embroidery is smooth in lines,lively in stitches,rich in levels and strong in expressive force.In addition,Double-faced Embroidery,Brocade-like Embroidery,Hair Embroidery,Floss for Embroidery and Tapestry of Cut Silk have high value of arts for appreciation with exquisite workmanship and typical styles. |
